I know it’s not possible to satisfy all the customers, but at least providing them a good after sale service should have some priority.
I bought my new Nokia N97 Mini the day it released in India, i.e 28th November, 2009 from a Nokia Priority Dealer at Barasat, Kolkata. I has a born faulty touchscreen and QWERTY keypad. Since the bill was generated and I payed for the phone, there was nothing that NPD can do but console me.

Anyway, I bought that phone and made a hard format by the 3 combination keys and the phone back to normal. Can you believe it, I had to hard format the handset even before I can start using it!! Shame on Nokia.
Everything was okay for a week and suddenly the phone hung. Nothing was working, the touchscreen, keypad or even the Power button. I had to remove the battery and then insert it again to power up the phone. It booted till the handshake logo appeared. Tried this several times and resulted the same.
I bought the phone to the Nokia Care (Not mentioning the Care Center name, but it’s at the Sector V, Salt Lake, Kolkata) and they told that a firmware upgrade is required. To let you know, there is no upgraded firmware available at the writing of this post for N97 Mini. What the did is flash the phone and reinstall the same version of the OS.
They returned the phone within one hour. When I was checking, it was still had that touchscreen issue, but the said, it’s nothing to worry about. Fine, I returned my home with the phone and as soon as I reached home, the problems are back. I called them and they said to bring the phone again for checkup. The next day I went there and another engineer attended me. He said, they have to send the phone to factory and might take a couple of weeks. It was okay with me as I was having a fully dead phone by then. Its now almost three weeks and they yet to return my phone.
I hate Nokia
Update (22-01-2010) : Finally I receive the handset yesterday, i.e 21st January. It seems to working now. I’ll do some hard test again to check it’s functionality. What I wonder is that Nokia didn’t even provided a standby set while it was repaired.

No to No-kia,
In my case, its a N72 (yes- a cheaper model but not free). Software got crashed, files got deleted, memory card corrupted, multimedia applications useless – I doubt Nokia preprograms the software to crash the phone and sqeeze more money out of the customers pocket. Nokia Care doesnt even care. They asked me to go to a cyber cafe to recover the corrupted memory card. The memory card was assigned a password by the phone itself and subsequently got corrupted. Anyone can search in the net for similar problems to verify the fact stated. Now I have a big phone with a use of just making calls (that too if you know the number-phone book wont work in the phone). Next alternative – try another brand. Nokia WAS my favorite. I have loved it since the first Nokia was brought into the family. First you’ll love it, later on you will compulsively join the I HATE NOKIA club.
